Working with NDIS Service Providers in Tasmanian Government Schools
It is anticipated that Principals may get occasional requests directly from families and/or external service providers to provide regular NDIS services for students on Department of Education premises and during school time. It should also be noted that the school Principal has the ultimate decision-making authority about who comes onto a school site.
Should you have such a query from parents or an NDIS external service provider it is recommended that you consult the following documents:
NDIS Conduct and Behaviour Standards for External NDIS Providers
This document outlines the Department’s expected conduct and behaviour standards that NDIS external service providers must comply with when working in Government schools. These Standards are aligned to the Department’s Conduct and Behaviour Standards for employees. NDIS providers can be seen as representatives of the Department and therefore should display conduct that is appropriate within associated DoE learning environments.
NDIS Providers – Checklist for Principals
This checklist provides an easily accessible checklist for Principals to follow to ensure all induction processes are completed by the NDIS provider prior to commencing work with students in Government schools.
NDIS External Provider Engagement Agreement
This is the document agreed to and signed by the Principal. provider and parent when services are negotiated to be provided in a school setting. It is then emailed to NDIS.firstname.lastname@example.org
Further information is available at NDIS External Provider Engagement Agreement.
NDIS Providers – Factsheet for Principals
This factsheet provides Principals with some points to consider when making a decision around requests for external provision of NDIA approved services on a school site.
Further information is available at NDIS Providers – Factsheet for Principals.
NDIS Procedures for Principals working with NDIS Providers
The purpose of this Procedure is to provide guidance to Principals when an NDIS external service provider seeks to access the school to deliver services for a particular student or group of students. It specifically outlines the requirements and considerations, and the induction process that Principals must follow when engaging with NDIS providers.
Further information is available at NDIS Procedures for Principals working with NDIS providers.
